Intercultural Training for Individuals

Sometimes people make the decision to move abroad on their own and do not have the support of a company to help them. "Living and Working" in programs is a form of the relocation training for international transfers that I do for companies, but tailored to the individual and/or their family. "Working with" programs are suitable for those people who want to focus on working with a specific culture. Both the "Living and Working" and "Working with" programs are for Germany, the US, the UK and many other countries as well. If there is a request for a country that is not my area of expertise, I work with one of my colleagues from my vast network of trainers who does have that country expertise. Naturally, I am flexible working across time zones depending on your location.

Living and Working in Germany

Relocation training is a kind of targeted intercultural training for expats (and their partners or families) that helps them to live and work successfully in the target country. With a focus on cultural differences in both daily life and in business, you can gain the knowledge and develop the skills you need to minimize culture shock and adapt quicker to all the changes associated with moving to a new country. This allows you  to address the needs and concerns that are most important for you to transition more smoothly into your new life and have a softer landing.

Programs can be delivered both pre-departure, post-arrival or a combination of both virtually and in-person. The accompanying family members can take part in the training and I am also an experienced youth trainer and can work with children in a separate program.  It is also possible to combine relocation training with intercultural coaching sessions or expat coaching if more support is needed. Please see the coaching page: Coaching for Individuals

Working with the Germans

Learning about German business culture allows you to understand how to build relationships better, improve communication and manage common projects for effectively with your German colleagues. Focus will be on what values influence your colleagues and how you can interpret their behavior better.  You will also gain a framework of which intercultural dimensions that impact your colleague's working style and learn how to adapt to their preferred communication styles. Understanding the expectations your colleagues have for doing business increase your ability to collaborate with them.
